August 21, 2017
On August 21, 2017, Pawnee County will experience the first total solar eclipse to be fully visible in the continental U.S. in 38 years. We will have a front-row seat to this rare event, and we’re planning to celebrate! Each of our six communities will be able to view the direct effects of the eclipse for more than 2 minutes 30 seconds. Multiple viewing sites will be available and set up to maximize your experience of this rare celestial event.
Where’s Pawnee County?
We’re about an hour southeast of Lincoln, Nebraska, and an hour and a half south of Omaha. There are six communities in Pawnee County. The largest, Pawnee City, is the county seat. To the south is DuBois, with Steinauer and Table Rock to the north. Northwest of Pawnee City are Burchard and Lewiston.
